Hello verybody,

I am new to this forums so please be gentle.

I need to setup a proxy(Squid) with LDAP as more secure as posible.

I have a couple of question.

#1 IS LDAP V3 already secure and including TLS by default?

#2 Is is possible to have a Squid server with many LDAP server where user are autheticating

#3 Is there someone that already set SQUI LDAP with TLS and with an active directory domain controler? So far, my squid sevrer works with basic LDAP V3 connecting to my DC windows 2003 and I am looking to improove security…

LDAP V3 has TLS as an extended operation so inclusion of it is optional but most LDAP V3 server has it.

Yes, you can specify multiple LDAP servers in squid_ldap_auth (this is the program used by Squid to authenticate to an LDAP server)

I used NTLM authentication in Squid instead of LDAP and this enabled me to eliminate the login prompts making it more secure.
