I've just upgraded my OS from CentOS 4 to CentOS 5. Now, the proxy server's response time is very slow. I've tried browsing directly from the CentOS 5 server machine and it is also very slow. It seems something is broken in CentOS 5 which causes the internet browsing to  suffer. Pls help. Thanks.

Hi diaz,

CentOS 5 is not broken, but your router is. The new feature TCP Window Scaling is enabled by default in the CentOS 5 Linux kernel. TCP Window Scaling probably does not work properly in your router. To disable TCP Window Scaling, add the line below in your /etc/sysctl.conf file and reboot.

net.ipv4.tcp_window_scaling = 0
