Linux Mail Server Setup and Howto Guide

Hi,

It all started with trying to send email to outside domain using mail client. After some research I found that AUTH LOGIN was not enabled in postfix main.cf. I enabled it. Even after that I could not login using base64 encoded username and password in the form "usernameusernamepassword". Then I found that the socket "auth" does not exist in private folder. And when I tried to modify dovecot.conf and added the "auth default {" as suggested in your website, I could not restart dovecot and it said it was expecting a "=". Actually in the original setting it was written as "auth = default" which I commented in the modified file.

Please help.
