Hi All,

I am using the dovecot-1.2.9-2.ep.x86_64 version in my cent OS.

 

When i try to start the dovecot i got the following error.

 

# service dovecot start

Starting Dovecot Imap: Fatal: listen(::, 143) failed: Address already in use           [FAILED]

 

Here is the output of netstat -tanp | grep 143

ie, blank

 

# netstat -tanp | grep 143

#

 

Also i checked 

# service sendmail status

sendmail: unrecognized service

# service exim status

exim: unrecognized service

 

 

can you please help me fix this issue.

Hi senthil,

 

Please post your dovecot configuration using

 

dovecot -n

 

BTW, sendmail and exim uses the smtp port 25 so you should be checking for courier instead. But I doubt you have courier running.
