Hi there,

We are having significant problems with getting postfix to work! This is the error we are getting: 

"#service postfix status  master dead but pid file exists" 

We have tried uninstalling and re-installing postfix with no success. However, Google's SMTP
server is working for us. 
 
Any help would be greatly appreciated!!!

Ok,

so it looks like this is an SELinux issue. I Completely disabled SELinux and I'm now able to send out emails from the smtp mail server. I'm not entirely sure what settings I need to change in Selinux to get the smtp mail server fucntioning with SELinux ??

Hi,

 

Instead of fully disabling SELinux, set it to permissive. You can then use audit2allow to permanently allow those actions. See http://wiki.centos.org/HowTos/SELinux for more detail.

So i recommend, please disable the selinux and then do a full reboot on the server. Also if the problem persists then please delete the pid file manually and then try again
