Dear Experts / Moderators,

Pls receive my greetings of the day..

This is my 1st post in this forum and i m looking forward to it.

This website is a real deal for newbies. This is we can say a STEP-BY-STEP procedures those are well documented and easy to understand.

 Recently, I've configured a mail server based on postfix, installed squirrelmail for clients as instructed in this site. Its working great and fine.

But I've few queries…

1) How to install/configure Postfix/squirrelmail from source codes which can be downloaded from their sites.

2) How to upgrade an existing postfix server to a latest one (again from source code).

3) How to install additional plugins in squirrelmail (again which were downloaded from squirrelmail site).

4) How to backup/restore the mail server.

Hi Arun,

To build and update Postfix from source code, just build the Postfix RPM. Install the rpm package and use the usual instructions.

For SquirrelMail plugin installation, see Auto Update SquirrelMail Personal Information for an example.

Dear Consultant,

 

Pls suggest, incase of server crashed, how to take backup for further protection and how to restore the settings,configurations and all the mails as it is.
