Hi;
I need your help. I just got my job and my manager ask me to build our network with Linux. my experience in Microsoft. the solution in Microsoft, one server for active directory and one server for exchange.
the manager does not like Microsoft. what is the similar solution in Linux. the solution should include mail service and active directory. The users around 50.
your help is appreciated

Hi Ahmed,
Exchange can be replaced with Postfix and Dovecot. Unfortunately, Active Directory cannot be replaced. You can use 389 Directory Server but it is a plain ldap directory, not Active Directory. See the homepage for more detail.

what if users use desk top with Windows OS. Should i use Samba? or there is another solution?

No, even Samba cannot act as an Active Directory domain controller.

Hi all
Samba can be a domain controller but with some limitation like group policy for example,
However you do not need to replace all your infrastructure by Linux Systems, You could keep active directory Running replace Exchange server with postfix
