Hi,

Now im a newb with linux so please bare with me,

I've got a uni project to setup and configure a mail server, i chosen to go with CentOS 5

see http://www.linuxmail.info/conf…..-centos-5/

Ive stopped at the point of configuring the host.

Now i do not have a FQDM and am using the uni labs to setup the server in, is there any way i could show this system working without a valid FQDM ie a local host or something?

If not what do i require of the uni sys admins?

Thanks in advance

by default linux uses the fqdm of localhost.localhost I belive.  Either way make up your own FQDM example.playground.blah.  for the linux box to test it's self it does not have to make sense to the world, just to Linux.
